Introducing
the .40 size glow Extra 330L. I have flown the 2nd prototype and am very pleased
with its performance. I also have 3 other modelers flying beta kits and they are
experiencing the same quality flight characteristics. The
Extra
330L is a conventionally built
airplane and has a foam fuselage. The wing is typical D-tube construction, but
this plane has many of its parts laser cut. All flying surfaces feature laser
cut parts so that the framer only need to sand 1/4" sq. balsa sticks at a 90
degree angle to finish the surface. No more sanding all those angles! Typical
times to frame the prototypes ranged from 6 to 8 hours and they were all built
without instruction manuals. I am planning on doing a limited numbers of kits,
if you are interested please notify me soon to get on the list. My projected
time frame is to have kits ready to ship during the last week of September.
Initial weights with no modifications are ranging from 4 to 4.8lb, they have all
been equipped with standard style servos and engines ranging from an OS50SX,
YS63, Saito 72 and 82. Each of these engines allows hovering on 1/2
throttle and unlimited vertical. View PDF instruction manual here.

This is Kirk Hutching's (aka Kirkman) Extra 330l.
Gary Seeloff is one of the best profile airplane fliers I
have witnessed. He compiles precision with wild, low 3D aerobatics. He has flown
nearly all of the available profile designs available today. Read what Gary
Seeloff has to say about his new Extra 330L.
OK, some thoughts from me on flying the new Extra 330. Is
it just a warmed-over Sledge? NO! The only thing I've found that it doesn't do
better than the Sledge is a high-alpha KE (my Sledge was rock solid in HAKE,
nearly hands off). It has a very good conventional KE, almost no pitch and just
a bit of roll coupling. Harriers are VERY solid, especially inverted. Until now
the TopCap was the best inverted harrier plane I'd flown and the Extra matches
it. It does nice walls and parachutes with that monster elevator. The ailerons
are very effective, in fact harrier rolls will get just stupid if you don't back
off the aileron stick. The plane is just great at 3D, no surprise there.
However, there IS a surprise. The plane is also excellent at precision flying!
When you put it on a line, it just stays there. Vertical up and down lines are
straight as can be. It may very well be the BEST rolling circle plane I've
flown. Snaps are nicely formed and easy to time. See Gary's
video.
Here is what Kirk Hutchings had to say
about his new Extra 330L.
This is the first kit I've built in some time. By
utilizing the laser cut parts to keep most all the stick cuts at a 90deg.
angles, the building was extremely fast and accurate. With a kit like this, I
could become a builder again. Kirk Hutchings "aka. kirkman"
